By accessing or using The Travel Journalist ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The app is a personal travel itinerary management tool. It allows you to organise trips by forwarding confirmation emails for automatic parsing, manually creating entries, viewing trips on maps and calendars, sharing trips with others, and tracking travel statistics.
When you forward emails to your personal intake address, you consent to having the email content sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) for automated parsing. This may include personal information such as passenger names, confirmation codes, and travel details contained in the email. You should only forward emails that you have the right to share and that you are comfortable having processed by the app.
Your data is never used for AI model training. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
You agree not to:
You retain full ownership of all data you submit to the app, including trip details, forwarded emails, uploaded images, and profile information. By using the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
You can export all your data at any time via Settings, and you can delete your account and all associated data permanently.
When you share a trip — whether with specific users or via a public link — you are responsible for the information you choose to make visible. Public links are accessible to anyone who has the URL. You can revoke shares and regenerate links at any time. Consider using the "hide sensitive details" option to redact confirmation codes, passenger names, and notes from shared views.
The app relies on third-party services including Anthropic (AI email parsing), Unsplash (cover images), OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (geocoding), Mapbox (geocoding and location autocomplete), CARTO (map tiles), Stripe (payment processing), and Apple Push Notification service (push notifications for iOS). These services are operated independently and may have their own terms and availability constraints. We are not responsible for outages, changes, or data handling by these third parties.
The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no guarantees regarding uptime, availability, or uninterrupted access. The service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice. We may perform maintenance that temporarily limits access to the app.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the app and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, but is not limited to:
You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of parsed trip details against your original confirmation emails.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Settings. Account deletion permanently removes all your data including trips, entries, shares, friends, notifications, and uploaded files.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behaviour.
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent changes were made. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If you have questions about these terms, please contact the application administrator.
